Meet the Deacons


Don Rollins

Don has been a deacon at New Hope since almost the very beginning. He was actually the first preacher who helped to start New Hope than became a deacon on December 3, 1995 when a Pastor was called to lead the church.
Don was called to preach in 1977 and has Pastored many churches over the years and is retired from Shell Chemical Plant.
Don loves to worship through music where he sings with The Canterbury’s and plays the Mandolin. They visit churches all throughout the area along with making several trips to the Nursing Homes.
Don served in the US Air Force from 1962-66,

Willie Ball

Willie has been a member of New Hope since October, 1995 and a deacon since December 11, 2002.
Willie is retired from Kyger Creek Power Plant and has served as a Sunday School Teacher to our Youth for many years.He is married to Elaine and 2016 they celebrated 50 years together. They have 2 sons. Willie has been saved since 1980.
He enjoys farming and riding his Harley. He spends time training his grandson in Powerlifting and cherishes the time with his grandchildren.

Dave Cassell

Dave has been a member of New Hope since 1998 and a deacon since February 23, 2011. Dave has been married to Sue for 46 years and they have 2 children. He retired from Akzo Chemical plant over 6 years ago and Sue continues to work for Fruth Pharmacy in the corporate offices.
Dave has been the Sunday School Superintendent for many years and is always around when he’s needed.Dave was saved at the age of 11.

He proudly served in the US Army from Jan. 1968 – Jan. 1970.


Jeff Sweeney?

Jeff has been a deacon at New Hope since July 17, 2013 and a member since January of 2013. He is married to Dee and they have 2 sons,
Jeff works for the WV DNR as a Game Warden and is nearing retirement.
He has been one of the Adult Sunday School teachers for many years and also takes a turn in teaching Children’s Church. He is very active in VBS as well as anything else that happens around New Hope.
Jeff was saved at the age of 9.

Kirby Hill

Kirby has been a deacon at New Hope since August 31, 2016. Kirby is married to Tammy and they have 2 sons.He works at Holzer Hospital as a surgical technician.
Kirby and his wife are both extremely active in many areas of our church. They help lead the children’s program on Wednesday evenings, help teach Children’s Church once a month, and also help with the Senior Youth as a leader during Retreats and other activities.
Kirby was saved at the age of 7.


Bill Cottrill

Bill became a deacon of New Hope on July 17, 2013. Bill is currently the Sunday School Teacher of the College to Career Class and he helps with Senior Youth activities when given the opportunity.
He is currently the Principal of Point Pleasant Jr/Sr High School. He is married to Marla and they have 2 daughters.
Bill was saved at the age of 10.
