Meet The Staff

Mel Mock

Mel and Sandy first started coming to New Hope when their daughters were attending there – probably the spring of 2009. Mel served as interim pastor from Jan 1, 2012 until March 2012 while the church looked for a new pastor. They stayed for almost a year before going back to our home church. He has been serving as Interim Pastor since Jan 1, 2017, while, once again, we are looking for a new Pastor. Mel has accepted the call to New Hope and was voted on as pastor on July 23, 2017.
Mel was called to preach in the fall of 1965 at the age of 15. He had always wanted to be a doctor before that. He attended Baptist Bible College in Springfield MO.

For a number of years, Mel had a successful business, Advanced Hearing Centers, Inc., which he started in March 1995 and sold in January of this year. Sandy is still teaching but Mel is semi-retired as of 2/28/2017.

Mel started doing mission work in 2004. He has been to Thailand 2 times, Nicaragua 2 times, Bolivia 2 times, Ecuador once, Honduras once, Liberia Africa once and Haiti once. He does plan to continue to do mission work as the opportunity affords itself.

Mel and Sandy were married June 29, 1973 and have two daughters. Mel was saved at the age of 9 at Bible Baptist Church in Miami, FL.

If it seems like Tim Moses has been at New Hope forever, it is probably because he has! He and Jill have been members since Feb. 1997. Tim’s dad was the first pastor of New Hope, so Tim has known many of the people at New Hope for years. Tim leads the music services with a passion and purpose to see God worshiped and magnified.

Tim was called to New Hope as the Minister of Music part time in 2001; full-time in June of 2009. Tim spends many hours each week visiting hospitals and the nursing homes as well as making home visits to our church family.

Tim and Jill have been married for 30 years and they cherish the time they spend traveling.

Tim has a background in blueprint & design. He worked in the Huntington area for many years. He has also sang with many gospel quartets and traveled all over the area.
Tim was saved at a young age.

Minister of Music
Josh joined the New Hope ministry team as youth pastor in 2018. He grew up in a small town in West Virginia and came to know Christ when he was 5 years old. It was at the age of 14 that he felt the call to the ministry. His passion for working with youth and young families began when he himself was in high school and realized how great the need was, as he did not have a leader to look to. Josh is married to Heather, his partner in ministry and they have a daughter named Adaline. He enjoys building websites, reading, traveling to new places, and hanging out at the Coffee Grinder in Point. Josh’s heart for our youth is to see them recognize their worth in Christ so they will accomplish what they were created to do.

Julie has been a member of New Hope since November of 2001 and the secretary since February of 2014.

She has been married to her husband Brent for over 22 years and they have two children, a son, and a daughter. She was saved at around 7 years old during VBS.

When Julie was asked to consider being the secretary, there was no doubt in her heart of whether to accept. She had felt God had called her to this position years before and had been praying for God to guide her in His perfect timing. He provided the opportunity at a very unexpected and trying time in her life.
